Tours of collections at the Gothenburg Natural History museum and Gothenburg Botanical Gardens!

On the evening of Thursday 17th August there will be guided tours at the Gothenburg Natural History Museum and the Gothenburg Botanical Gardens.

It will also be possible to sign up using manual lists that will  be mounted at the entrance to the conference facilities.o

These tours have a maximum number of participants and in case the tours are filled there will be a first come – first serve policy with priority to those who has signed up.

The Gothenburg Natural History museum

The Gothenburg Natural History museum have vast collections with 10 million specimens, some of which are shown in the exhibitions, like the world’s only mounted blue whale. In this tour we will guide you through the wet collection and bone collection, while presenting some of the projects the museum are presently engaged in.

Time: 18:00 to 19:00.
Place: Meet up at the museums main entrance. (Guided walk from Wallenberg 17.15)
Maximum number of participants 45.


Gothenburg botanical garden

The area in total is 175 hectares (ca 430 acres), of which most constitutes a nature reserve including the arboretum. The garden proper is about 40 hectars and here grow something like 16,000 different species and cultivars in various parts of it. Among many fascinating parts of the garden are The Rhododendron Valley, The Japanese Glade and The Rockgarden with it's waterfall. In the Greenhouses you will find about 4,000 various species and cultivars, including some 1,500 orchids, a remarkable travertine department and the rare Eastern Island Tree.

The BioSyst.EU meeting of 2017 will be organised by the Swedish Systematics Association in corporation with the University of Gothenburg and will be held 15-18 August at the Wallenberg Conference Centre, Gothenburg, Sweden.


The meeting will feature one whole-day and 11 half-day symposia held by member societies of BioSyst.EU and external organisations and 3 open sessions with mixed presentations.

Registration fee: Registration fee includes participation during all four days as well as lunch all four days served at restaurant Lyktan at the Wallenberg Conference Centre, and coffee breaks (Coffee and sandwiches/cake) twice per day. The fee also includes participation activities connected to the event, including evening mingle at the Natural History Museum, workshops and guided tours. All registration fees include Swedish VAT 25%.

Abstract Presenters:

Application for presenters is done by sending an e-mail to

The e-mail should contain the following information:

-Which symposium you would prefer to be assigned to
-The title of your presentation
-If it is an Oral presentation or Poster
-An abstract in either doc/pdf/txt -format.

Please make sure you provide all information required, to ensure that your application can be processed properly without delays. Applications will be forwarded to the organisers of the individual symposiums.


Last day of registration:


Abstracts can be sent in and will be forwarded to the indicated symposium up until the 31 of May.

However symposiums might become filled prior to this date and it is therefore recommended that abstracts are submitted as early as possible.


The organisers of the individual symposiums are required to:

     -Submit a final abstract of their symposium and at least 2 confirmed speakers by 1 of March.

     -Submit the final schedule and abstract for all presentations by the 1 of June.

Registration fee is increased for registrations made after 1 June 2017.



Poster formatis regular printed posters and the maximum size is standard A0 Vertical((841 x 1189mm.)


Cancellation, Refunds and registration transfer:

Registration can be cancelled and will be partly refunded up until 1 June 2017. However, in order to cover our costs there is a cancelation fee of SEK 400 which will be deducted for each cancelled registration.

After the 1 June 2017 no refund for cancellations will be made.

However, please note that it is always possible to transfer your ticket to someone else in case of impediments.
